Football: 2017 Honorary Captains

Week #1: John Koehler

The West Jefferson Football Program would like to congratulate Mr. John Koehler on being named this week’s honorary captain. Mr. Koehler graduated from Westfall High School in 1997 and went on to earn Bachelor degrees in History and Special Education from Wittenberg and Urbana Universities. This year, Mr. Koehler marks his 15th year as an educator with 14 of those serving as an Intervention Specialist at West Jefferson High School. Mr. Koehler has excelled in the classroom.  In 2006 he received the Central Ohio Special Education Resource Center Outstanding Educator of the Year award. On top of his teaching duties, Mr. Koehler spent 14 years as the football program’s defensive coordinator. Currently, Mr. Koehler is the district’s Strength and Conditioning Coordinator where he works hand in hand with all coaches to develop a strength and conditioning program that benefits each sport. Outside of school, Mr. Koehler has volunteered his time to the West Jefferson Youth Athletic Association by coaching sports such as T-Ball and football. Mr. Koehler currently resides in Grove City with his wife Brandy, son Landen and daughter Lainey. The West Jefferson Football Program would like to thank Mr. Koehler for all of his efforts both in and out of the classroom.

Week #2: Jackie Fitzpatrick

he West Jefferson Football Program would like to congratulate Mrs. Jackie Fitzpatrick on being named this week’s honorary captain.  Mrs. Fitzpatrick graduated from Cambridge High School in 1987 and went on to earn Bachelor Degrees in Math and Education from both Ohio University and Urbana University.  She received her Master’s Degree from Marygrove College.  This year marks Jackie’s 21st year as a math teacher in the Jefferson Local School District.  Mrs. Fitzpatrick has excelled in both the classroom and as a coach.    Jackie has coached middle school basketball, and cheerleading at both the middle and high school level.  Outside of school, Mrs. Fitzpatrick has volunteered her time to the West Jefferson Youth Athletic Association, worked at Christmas in the park, and volunteered on numerous church projects.  Mrs. Fitzpatrick resides in West Jefferson with her husband Jerry and two sons Jacob and Nicholas.  The West Jefferson Football Program would like to thank Mrs. Fitzpatrick for all of her efforts both in and out of the classroom.

Week #3: Brian Pickler

The West Jefferson Football Program would like to congratulate Mr. Brian Pickler on being named this week’s honorary captain. Mr. Pickler graduated from Wayne Valley High School (New Jersey) in 2001 and went on to earn a Bachelor degree in education from Elon University in 2005. Mr. Pickler started his educational career at Wayne High School teaching chemistry and coaching football. He moved to central Ohio in 2012 and began teaching chemistry at West Jefferson High School. Since being hired at West Jefferson Mr. Pickler has developed an AP Chemistry class, a Forensic Science class, coached Middle School Football, and has advised the Quiz Bowl Team. Mr. Pickler currently resides in Dublin with his wife Kara, and are expecting their first child very soon (due 9/23). The West Jefferson Football Program would like to thank Mr. Pickler for all of his efforts both in and out of the classroom.
