Two West Jefferson Roughriders Pitchers Combine To Shutout West Liberty.
The Roughriders defeated West Liberty 8-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Kyle Mason induced a fly out from Burden to finish off the game.
West Jefferson got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run for West Jeff.
The Roughriders tallied three runs in the fourth inning. West Jefferson batters contributing to the big inning included Cole Howard, Justin Williams, and Justin Gatley, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Cade Brintlinger was the winning pitcher for the Roughriders. He lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out nine. Mason threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Allen took the loss for West Liberty. He allowed seven hits and five runs over five innings, striking out 11.
West Jefferson Roughriders Varsity racked up ten hits in the game. Connor Shields, Jake Boyd, Howard, and Shane Gray all collected multiple hits for West Jefferson. Gray, Howard, Boyd, and Shields all had two hits to lead the Roughriders.
